Captain Jack Sparrow is back! But not with a bang! The fourth instalment of the ‘Pirate…’series lacks the punch and the excitement that the first two parts had. Although the shortest of all the films of the series (its two hours and sixteen minutes) the movie drags and leaves the viewer quite disappointed by the end. The edge of the seat fun that an adventure film of this league is supposed to have is unfortunately missing.
The story goes something like this; Sparrow is forced to help pirate Blackbeard (Ian McShane) and find the fountain of youth. The fountain of youth is much sought after and is also in the top priority for the former pirate Barbossa, played by Geoffrey Rush.
Spanish beauty Penelope Cruz plays Sparrow’s ex-flame, who could be Blackbeard’s daughter but one is not certain about it.
With such an amazing cast, the director could have done wonders to the script and the film. But sadly, only few scenes have that trademark Sparrow humour or the style that the series is known for.
Go for this movie only if you are a diehard fan of Depp’s Sparrow avatar because he is the only saving grace of the film.
