Tamil films shine at the National Awards!

 

Rajinikanth’s son-in-law Dhanush has bagged the Best Actor award

Tamil films swept the 58th National Film Awards, announced on May 19 in New Delhi. Awards in most of the prominent categories have been bagged by Tamil cinema.
While Dhanush bagged the Best Actor award for his mindblowing acting in Aadukalam, Saranya Ponvannan has been selected as the Best Actress for her realistic portrayal of a mother who dotes on her son in Thenmerkku Paruvakaattru. She shared the award with actor Mitali Jagtap Paradharand for the Marathi film Baboo Band Baaja.
Apart from Dhanush, Aadukalam was also adjudged the best in five other categories. Vetrimaran has been awarded Best Director for a Commercial Film and Best Screenplay Writer, Dinesh for Best Choreography, Kishore for Best Editing, Shivram Karanth Award for Best Film.

Superstar Rajinikanth’s Endhiran (Robot) was also honoured with Best Special Effects Award and Best Production Design Award.
Ace lyricist Vairamuth who has been selected for the sixth time receives Best Lyricist Award for Thenmerkku Paruvakaattru. Incidentally, the movie also won Best Film in a Regional category.
Thambi Ramaiah has won the Best Supporting Actor for his enchanting role in Mynaa.
